Huzzah! 2013

Postby Chevert » Tue May 07, 2013 4:13 am

I just ran a fun KK game at Huzzah! up in Portland Maine. The Assault on Azov! The Russo-Turkish war of the 1730s.
The Russians in 1736 under General Peter Lacy took Azov from the Turks. I could not find much info on this but just had to get the Turks on the table.

Starting positions from Russian side.

The Russian Yellow Hussars charged and destroyed the Turk heavy battery in the center signalling the all out advance.

The Russian left flank saw a swirling cavalry battle. The Turkish Feudal infantry and Bashi Bazouks clogged the fields
making it difficult for the Russian cavalry to maneuver. Roughly equal losses were inflicted on both sides.
The Russians also took the redoubt in the center of the Turkish line.

The final Turkish position held by the Janissary brigade.

The objectives were for the Russians to win was (if the Turkish army did not break) they needed to take all three redoubts.
The Turks had to hold two of the redoubts for a victory. In this hard fought battle, neither side broke so it came down to a draw.

I had 6 players at the table for most of the battle. A couple left early but others filled in so it worked out well as we had command casualties!
I even gave out the last of the dice you sent me a couple years ago. I think you should make dice in each nation's colors instead of just yellow.
Can't wait for the next addition to the rules to come out.

Agreed! I have been rather side tracked the last few years, we are only just getting back on track into horse and musket again. A load of new PDF supplements are in the works for release this year as well as Der Grosse Koenig for Koenig Krieg :D
