We have had a few battles in the plains and in the valleys of Spain. The first was a small game between the French and British forces up in Northern Spain. The British took a Mediterranean division filled with Sicilian and Italian troops.
The other infantry Division with the Brunswick Legion, a Portuguese regiment, KGL regiment and a British line regiment.
Protecting the flanks was a Division of British Light Cavalry.
The French took a German division,
a Reserve/Legion division with the Irish Legion, Paris Guard and a few other less than desirable regiments
and Joseph Napoleon's Guard Division and Joseph's Guard Cavalry Division.
The German division had a regiment with desertion special rule. Before the game starts on a D6 roll of 6 the regiment is removed from the game as it has deserted prior to the battle. Needless to say the regiment did desert before the battle. Here they are maybe they are Nassau?
Not perturbed by the loss of the Nassauer's, the French forces went on the attack from the get go. The German division sped up to the British division and with the help of the French Reserve division overwhelmed the Brunswick Legion and Portuguese regiment, but not without suffering horrendous losses.
The counterattack by the KGL and British line ripping huge gaps in the French lines.
The Spanish Guard division under Joseph Napoleon tried to put pressure on the Mediterranean division successfully forcing an Italian levy regiment to retreat. However, the Royal Horse Battery and a regiment of British Hussars raced forward to threaten the Spanish Guard division and that was the end of any further pressure by Joseph's troops.
In the meantime the Spanish Guard cavalry were making their way around the British flank but that was foiled by the British Light Cavalry which maneuvered across to the flank to stop any further advances by the Spanish Guard cavalry.
The game had only been going for about 3 turns when the Portuguese and Brunswick troops were forced to retreat under the combined charges of the entire German division and a brigade of the Reserve division. With only three divisions in the army and the British division damaged that turn, they were forced to take an army morale test which was failed and the game was over. Short sweet and very bloody. Boy British=Allied troops do shoot pretty well
